ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA
If just relaxing, enjoying the the maqui air and some village life is not your preference there is much else to occupy you while staying at Blacktree..... walking, mountain-biking, horse-riding, botanizing, photography, bird-watching, paragliding, archaeological excursions, driving yourself visiting by car or by jeep along exciting 4-wheel drive tracks.

BOTANIZING…the limestone plateau surrounded by evergreen forests and isolated canyons with karstic springs offer possibilities of finding all the species of flora of the Eastern Mediterranean. At Kabak all species growing up to 1000 metres are concentrated in the one gorge…unless found by a goat first. Babadag due to its geographical position has important relic endemic species awaiting investigation.

PHOTOGRAPHY… fantastically clear colour contrasts give you the possibility to record village life and the breathtaking geography of the area.

BIRDWATCHING…Birds of prey and birds of the maqui are sighted in the Blacktree area with wetland bird species down the hill in the Fethiye and Patara beach areas.

PARAGLIDING…Babadag is one of the best known venues for tandem and single paragliders. Enthusiasts can reach the take-off area on foot or with vehicle support from Blacktree. It is also possible for singles to fly from Blacktree…depending on experience and weather conditions!

CANOEING…On the Xanthos river, a great day for all members of the family….the canoes start from Xanthos and paddle to the sea with a stop off for a touristic mud bath and a cooked lunch.

SCUBA DIVING…Learn to Dive at the warm and clear waters of Mediterrenean, or for experienced divers we have packages with the posiibilities of night dive, wreck diving and choice of speciality dive courses...

ARCHAEOLOGY…central Lycia was widely settled even in the second millenium BC. Today the little excavated remains of its hill cities, harbours, and fine burial monuments make one wonder at the advanced state of civilisation which existed in such forbidding surroundings In early Christian times Lycia was on the pilgrims route to Jerusalem, with small settlements in the sheltered coves along its coastine. Farther afield such sites as Ephesus Termessos Perge and Hieropolis can be visited in a day or by spending a night away.

CAR-HIRE…for those who value cool evenings but enjoy busy days. If you just need a car with or without driver for a couple of day organise it after you arrive at Blacktree.
