Sarigerme is a relatively new beach resort just a 15 minute drive from Dalaman International Airport on Turkeys stunning Mediterranean coast. An area that has undergone a lot of development over recent years, it has a different feel to many of the surrounding areas and is home to a growing number of impressive hotels and all-inclusive resorts, the most famous being The Hilton Golf Resort with its planned 18-hole course due to complete in the next few years.
Strangely, the name of Sarigerme does not refer to the resort but is the name of its local beach. The centre of the resort is short minibus ride, or a 20 minute walk inland (850m), and called Osmaniye.
Sarigermes highlight is undoubtedly its beach. A wondrous 7km stretch of golden sand that is ideal for a day relaxing and sunbathing or indulging in a few water sports. The village is still fairly traditional and great to explore or sample a little local life. With a good array of shops, a growing number of restaurants and bars, and a good Sunday market it is ideal for a spot of souvenir shopping or buying the all-important ‘genuine fake’ designer wallets and clothing.
Sarigerme is most suited to those looking for a beach holiday in a modern hotel or all-inclusive resort. Towards early and late season, many of the hotels and flight companies offer great deals so the area tends to spring to life early from around April each year, the last tourists leaving early late October. Sarigerme is still developing and each year offers up a new choice of activities. It is a fabulous option for all those that like to centre themselves around a luxurious hotel with modern facilities and be within easy reach of the airport and a good beach.
The majority of the activities in Sarigerme revolve around the beach or hotel facilities. The beach is fabulous, one of the best sandy stretches in the region with ample room to soak up the sun and many water-sports on offer. The hotels tend to be large and modern with good sized pools, spas, Turkish baths, gyms and entertainment programmes. The transport links to surrounding areas like the historic town of Dalyan that’s famed for its Lycian Rock Tombs, and the sophisticated sailing port of Gocek, are great and many local tour operators run excursions suiting most tastes and interests.
There are two sandy beaches in Sarigerme, both with cafes, showers and toilets on hand. The beaches are a 20 minute walk from the resort centre and many hotels run shuttle services throughout the day. The public beach tends to be the most popular and is connected to many of the hotels, the private beach charges a small entrance but is far quieter and more relaxed.
